A Pakistani Accountability Court has reopened five anti-corruption cases against former President Asif Ali Zardari and has asked him to file a response within two weeks.
Judge Bashir Ahmed reopened the five graft cases against Zardari, which included SGS, Cotecna, ARY, polo ground and Ursus tractors, the Daily Times reports.
Earlier, the cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Zardari had been deferred due to the constitutional immunity, which he enjoyed during his tenure as head of state.
However, the court clarified in its notice that Zardari's immunity had ended that very moment when he stepped down from the Presidency.
The Rawalpindi court has ordered the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-Chairman to appear before the court on October 14.
The court has also summoned the NAB's prosecutor general, the report added.
