The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected all charges of rigging in the General Election 2013 saying that the polls were fair.
Additional Director General of ECP Masood Malik said that no rigging had taken place in the elections and that the global observers had termed the polls as fair and transparent, reported the Dawn.
The official also said that identity cards were compulsory for casting votes during the elections.
The ECP official said that most of the people were farm workers who lose their thumb impressions while working in the fields.
Hence, many of the thumb impressions could not be recognized as they had been done wrongly, said Malik.
The official said that administrative steps were taken as per directed by the Supreme Court. The use of photos and magnetic ink on the voter list was one of the administrative steps taken.
The additional DG ECP said that the management system of results was computerised and ballot papers had been printed by Printing Corporation of Pakistan.
