The Pakistan government agreed to five out of the six demands made by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) during their ongoing protests but rejected the demand for Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign.
Pakistan interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that the government had no issues in accepting five out of six demands but said that the resignation of Nawaz was non-negotiable. He also said that both the PTI and the PAT had assured the government that their protestors would move from in front of the Pakistan parliament.
Meanwhile, reports state that Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif has urged officers graduating from the National University of Science and Technology to prepare to defend the country in the face of a "growingly complex threat environment".
