The Pakistan government has decided to replace special prosecutors in the 26/11 terror attack case.
The decision came amid widespread criticism against the government after prime accused Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the alleged mastermind of the Mumbai attack, was granted bail by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), reported the Dawn.
A senior government official said that the government had started to hunt for special prosecutors and had already contacted criminal law experts and some senior lawyers with experience in the criminal proceedings.
The government was forced to detain Lakhvi under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) after India and some other countries reacted strongly to the granting of bail to the prime 26/11 attack accused only a few days after the December 16 terror attack on Peshawar's Army Public School.
The Pakistani government had arrested Lakhvi and some other suspects in February 2009 for 'facilitating' the attacks. Nearly 166 people were killed in the attack in Mumbai in November 2008.
