Pakistan has the second-largest stockpile of anti-personnel landmines in the world, a report said.

Nobel-prize winning group International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) released a report titled, "Landmine Monitor 2014", on Wednesday and identified 11 states namely China, Cuba, India, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam as potential producers of anti-personnel mines, reported The Express Tribune.

The report said that although most of these countries are not active landmine producers but they reserve the right to do so. However, India, Myanmar, Pakistan and South Korea are still believed to be producing the mines, the report said.

Of the 35 states that are not party to the Mine Ban Treaty, almost 31 are stockpiling the weapon. Pakistan boasts of having the second-largest stockpile with an estimated six million anti-personnel landmines and is preceded by Russia which has a whopping 26.5 million stockpile.

India stands third on the list with 4-5 million anti-personnel landmines.
