Hundreds of minority Hindus in Pakistan, including women and children, staged a protest here after a 100-year-old temple in Soldier Bazaar was demolished .
They demanded protection for their places of worship.
According to the Dawn, representatives of the Madrasi Hindu Punchayat (MHP) demonstrated at the Karachi Press Club, demanding protection of their rights.
Addressing the protesters, MHP president Kasilingam and other community leaders said the community members had been performing their religious rites at the Shri Mari Mata Temple for over 100 years.
They said a caretaker of the temple with the help of some builders removed idols from the place and demolished the old structure to make space for a high-rise building.
