Pakistani troops resumed heavy firing on Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mendhar Battalion area, the Balakot sector and in Hamirpur in Poonch district late last night, forcing Indian soldiers to retaliate.
In the first instance, firing on Indian positions reportedly took place between 9.15 p.m. and 11 p.m. Initially, the Pakistani troops used light automatic weaponry but, as soon as the Indian soldiers retaliated, heavy weapons, including MMG mortars came into play.
The firefighting is reportedly still on at the three points, but there have been no casualties so far.
An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Jammu Division in the aftermath of Friday's Kishtwar clashes.
Television reports indicated that the authorities might consider relaxing curfew after reviewing the situation this afternoon. In Reasi district, however, curfew was relaxed between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. this morning.
In the wake of the curfew, all educational institutions across the Jammu division are closed today. Jammu University has already postponed all exams.
