The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has reportedly said that the military offensive launched by the Pakistani government, Operation Zarb-i-Azb, targeting the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in North Waziristan has neutralized the militant group's capacity to carry out terror attacks.

According to the BBC, Major General Asim Bajwa said on Monday that the second-level leadership of the banned Taliban have been either killed or arrested during the operation. He added that the terrorists are able to conduct random attacks only because they are scattered.

Commenting on Pakistan's political turmoil, Bajwa said that the military is neither involved in the nation's politics nor is it backing a particular faction during the current crisis. He stressed on the need to resolve the prevailing crisis through a political process.
