Pakistan's military is preparing for a final push in its fight against terrorism in the coming weeks.
According to Dawn News, the military said that the offensive, that was launched one year back to eradicate strongholds of Taliban and other militants in North Waziristan tribal area, is 90 percent done.
The army is now placing troops around the Shawal Valley, a key location close to the Afghan border that is home to some of the last redoubts of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to locals and security sources.
More than 2,700 militants have been killed since the launch of the offensive and more than 800 hideouts have been destroyed, according to the army.
Hundreds of civilians have left North Waziristan due to the offensive.
However, no action has been taken against the Haqqani Network, Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and no militant groups have been outlawed by the Pakistani government since the Peshawar massacre that killed more than 150 people.
