The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday reacted sharply to comments made by Pakistani Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Kashmir, saying Islamabad must mend its ways if it wants to coexist with its neighbours

"The Army Chief of Pakistan should introspect as to which country is responsible for the kind of disturbance that we are seeing on the Indo-Pak border and the kind of disturbance we are seeing in the whole of South East Asia, it is none other than Pakistan. Pakistan must mend its ways if it wants to coexist with its neighbours," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI.

The Pakistani Army Chief has said that the resolution of Kashmir issue was essential for continued peace in South Asia and also maintained that his force was capable of giving a befitting reply to meet any external threat.

General Sharif also said that the people of Kashmir should be allowed to decide their fate in the light of United Nations resolution.

"We persistently seek peace in the region and beyond. This quest for peace is our nation's greatest strength. We desire regional stability and relationship based on equality and mutual respect," he said.
