Defence expert Lieutenant General (Retd.) Raj Kadyan on Tuesday said Pakistan is at the moment not in a position to do something major that may provoke India.
"Therefore, it was only expected that they will engage in those small least provocative activities and heating up the LoC has been one of the options because LoC has been violated so many times that the world doesn't take note of it and that is what they have been doing after 29th September," Lieutenant General (Retd.) Kadyan told ANI.
"India has a policy and doesn't initiate any violence. But when it is violated by Pakistan and the Indian Army suffers some kind of a loss then they retaliate strongly and make Pakistan pay the price," he added.
Lieutenant General (Retd.) Kadyan further said India is not a soft state as Pakistan believed all along.
"We should do what is in our national interest and not what Pakistan says," he added.
Multiple ceasefire violations have been reported along the International Border and Line of Control after India conducted surgical strikes across the border in Pakistan occupied Kashmir last month.
