Pakistan's National Assembly (NA) has rejected a resolution calling for a ban on liquor.

The resolution called for imposing a ban on the manufacturing, import, sale and drinking of liquor and issuing permits in the country.

According to the Daily Times, PML-N's MNA Chaudhry Hamid Hameed moved the resolution.

However, the House rejected the resolution when State Minister for Interior Baleeghur Rahman contended that issuing a ban on liquor was of no use.

He said that there was already a ban in place to bar the 'common man' in the country from drinking.
