The Pakistani cricketers were reportedly surprised at not getting any cash award from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for lifting the winners' trophy after winning the five-match one-day series against West Indies.
According to the Daily Times, the players, who are currently touring the Caribbean, were bitterly disappointed when they were handed out only mementoes and trophies during the prize distribution ceremony as they expecting some cash prizes for the best individual efforts and for winning the series.
A source said that there is normally always a winner's cheque for winning an international series and also for best individual performances like the player of the Series, which went to captain Misbahul Haq, and advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take up the matter with the West Indies board.
Although the report said that the lack of cash awards at the prize distribution ceremony indicated the financial position of the WICB, which will be organising the first ever Caribbean Premier League, the source expressed surprise at the board being able to organise the tournament despite its alleged lack of cash.
