Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reportedly postponed his visit to Karachi, where he was expected to take stock of the law and order situation and frequent power outages in extreme weather conditions.
While no reason has been given as to why the visit was postponed, sources have stated that Sharif had a lot of important meetings scheduled in Islamabad, reported The Express Tribune.
The news came after Prime Minister Sharif faced flak recently for not visiting the heatwave victims in Karachi.
He will now visit Karachi on July 1 to discuss the current situation in the aftermath of the deadly heatwave and other issues. He would also visit heatstroke victims at different hospitals of the city.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the sweltering heatwave in Pakistan went up to 1,276 as over 300 unidentified victims were buried on Saturday.
