While acknowledging condolence and concern expressed by other countries after the massive earthquake on Monday, Pakistan has announced that it does not need any foreign assistance for relief work.

According to the Dawn, Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed said that there is no shortage of supplies and Pakistan is fully capable of handling the crisis by its own.

However, Pakistan is grateful to the countries that have expressed concern and offered assistance for rescue, relief and rehabilitation for affected people in the quake-hit region, he added.

Rasheed added that eighty per cent of injured people have been discharged after receiving proper medical assistance and critically injured patients have been airlifted to hospitals in major cities for proper treatment.

Over 267 people have died and 1,865 people have been injured in Pakistan following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck major cities of the country on Monday.
