The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has killed three security officers who were investigating the June massacre of foreign climbers.
According to the Daily Times, two army officers and a senior superintendent of police (SSP) were shot dead, while another soldier sustained injuries during an armed attack on the vehicle near Ronai in Chilas.
Diamer SSP Hilal Ahmad was returning from the District Commissioner's House along with Colonel Ghulam Mustafa and Captain Ashfaq Aziz, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their vehicle, the report said.
Earlier, the TTP had claimed responsibility for killing 10 foreign climbers and a local guide in an attack where gunmen dressed as policemen stormed a base camp on Pakistan's Nanga Parbat on June 23.
Meanwhile, Chilas DCO Ajmal Bhatti said no major arrests have been made so far in connection with the June 23 massacre.
TTP spokesperson said that the banned outfit's subsidiary group, Janood-e-Hafsa, has carried out the attack to divert the world's attention towards the drone attacks in the Tribal Areas of Pakistan.
