Pakistan's Information and Broadcast ministry has said that the Indian dramas on local TVs should be banned immediately as the language was influencing the children in an alarming way.

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman explained the committee that a policy directive issued in 2006 allowed 10 percent foreign content, including six percent from Indian channels, on local TV channels.

Chairman Senator Kamil Ali Aagha warned the PEMRA to review the government directive and stop such content immediately, the Nation reports.

The Senate standing committee on Information and Broadcast blamed the foreign content for portraying Muslim culture in a negative way and excess of obscene material leaving bad effects on children.

The legislative body directed the PEMRA chairman to prepare the draft of the code of conduct within a week and share it with Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) to immediate enforcement of law.
