Terming Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif's latest comment on ceasefire violations as cheap, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Friday said Islamabad is still stuck in the 'Main Hoon Na' syndrome.
"Even I can make very provocative and aggressive statements. Surely, we can keep the dispute as it is, if not solve it, but there is no point of accelerating this thing. Pakistan should understand this. Politicians of Pakistan are stuck to the "Main Hoon Na" syndrome by making cheap comments," said Singhvi.
"They just want to gain cheap popularity by making such statements. Their government is itself divided and they themselves don't know which part of country comes under which power," he added.
Another Congress leader Rashid Alvi said the government should take concrete steps to deal with the situation.
"We never wanted war as we believe in peace but Pakistan always forgets what we can do, we have taught them a lesson before as well. But what is our government doing? It must take steps. The Prime Minister must forget about public meetings and polls for some time and think about existence of the nation," said Alvi.
Yesterday, Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif that the country is capable of responding "befittingly" to Indian actions on the border.
Asif's Indian counterpart later warned Pakistan on ceasefire violations by saying "If Pakistan persists with this adventurism, our forces will make cost of this adventurism unaffordable for it.
