The freight train between Pakistan and Iran has been launched again after a gap of five years.

According to the Dawn, the Quetta-Zahedan goods transportation service was inaugurated by Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch on Tuesday.

The train currently has 24 bogies and will be expanded to 40 later.

A senior official of Pakistan Railways said the first train, carrying cement and some other goods, left the Quetta Railway Station for Zahedan and would return to the city on June 13

The decision to restore the freight service was taken at a meeting in Tehran between railways officials of Pakistan and Iran last month.
