Pakistan on Sunday observed the 50th anniversary of its 1965 war with India. It began the day with a 31-gun salute in national capital Islamabad.
According to the Dawn, a minute's silence was observed in memory of fallen heroes who had rendered the ultimate sacrifice to protect the nation's borders.
The main ceremony, that of honouring martyrs, will take place on Sunday evening at the Yadgar-i-Shuhada at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The ceremony will be attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and other service chiefs, senior government functionaries and dignitaries.
