Pakistan strongly condemns terror attack in Istanbul, re-affirms solidarity with Turkey

Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the Besiktas district of Istanbul in which 29 people were killed and 166 wounded.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost their loved ones. We extend our profound sympathies and condolences to the brotherly people and Government of Turkey. We also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured," a press statement by Foreign Affairs Ministry said.

Pakistan expressed complete solidarity with Turkey in its fight against terrorism and reaffirmed the belief that those seeking to disturb Turkey's peace, stability and internal harmony would never succeed.

"We have no doubt that the brotherly people of Turkey would decisively defeat the scourge of terrorism with their unshakable resolve and continue on the path of peace, security and prosperity," the statement read.

Pakistan also reiterated its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Turkey has declared a one-day morning after twin blasts ripped through the heart of Istanbul killing 29 people and wounding 166 others.

The first bomb went off just outside the facility known popularly as Besiktas Stadium. The second blast that came moments later was attributed by authorities to a suicide bomber.
