Bhawal Mengal, activist of World Baloch Organisation, on Friday drew the attention of the international community towards the growing atrocities of Pakistan and the human rights situation faced by the indigenous people of Balochistan.

Mengal, while speaking at the Human Rights Commission Session here, questioned as to why it is not being recognized that even after being the member of the council, Pakistan has blatantly been working against all its stands.

"70 years of brutalities, 5000 innocent men and women killed, 18000 missing people and 250,000 people displaced - I ask, is this not enough?" he said.

"I ask the council - why does the world ignore the plight of the Baloch people? Why must more Baloch people die?" he added.

Mengal said that Pakistani military is carrying out large-scale military operations across Balochistan and by the end of the day, countless Baloch villages will be turned to ashes.

"Not to mention how many names will be added to the ever-growing list of missing people in Balochistan," he said.

He further said that despite everything, Pakistan has never been held accountable for the genocide in Balochistan, it was also never held accountable for harboring Osama bin Laden, nor it was held accountable for supporting the Taliban.

"Regardless, the Baloch people still hang on to hope, hope that perhaps one day the world will wake up and recognize their suffering, and effectively denounce the slow-motion genocide of the secular Baloch people committed at the hands of the Pakistani authorities," he said.
