The outgoing High Commissioner of Pakistan to India, Salman Bashir on Sunday said that his country welcomed the agreement between Iran and six world powers to resolve the nuclear issue, and added that the deal would help in boosting trade with neighbouring countries.
"We are indeed very happy that this has taken place. The Foreign Ministry in Pakistan has welcomed this development. Iran is a close neighbour and a good friend, and anything that contributes to peace and stability and normalcy in the region is welcome,' he said.
"And this I am sure would lead to opening of better cooperation in all sectors- economy, trade, energy between Iran and its neighbouring countries including Pakistan and the rest of the region," he added.
Earlier in the day, Iran signed an agreement with six major world powers led by United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany to curb its nuclear activities for six months in exchange for limited relief from sanctions.
The six-month period is intended to give time to the international community to work towards a comprehensive agreement
According to reports, the package includes freezing Iran's ability to enrich uranium at a maximum five percent level, which is well below the threshold for weapons-grade material and is aimed at easing Western concerns that Tehran could one day seek nuclear arms.
