A Pakistan diplomat was shot dead by gunmen near his residence in eastern Afghanistan on Monday, The Express Tribune reported.
Nayar Iqbal Rana, who was serving at the Pakistan Consulate General in the Jalalabad city of Nangarhar province, was gunned down by unidentified men near his house, The Express Tribune quoted a security official, as saying.
The diplomat was targeted when he was returning home after offering prayers at a mosque.
The gunmen fled after the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
