Chelsea's technical director Michael Emenalo said that the club was in trouble because of the repeated poor performances, insisting that there was an immediate need to take some action.
Emenalo disclosed that the relation between players and manager had almost broken down.
The club had earlier announced that Mourinho had left Chelsea 'by mutual consent'.
According to Sport24, Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, who served as a interim coach of Chelsea in 2009, is likely to make return to the club in a similar role.

Reflecting on the matter, Emenalo stressed that the club was vigorously and actively working towards the appointment of new manager.
The Portuguese manager, who led Chelsea to a Premier League and League Cup double last season, failed to display his magic again as the defending champions currently stand one point above the relegation zone after nine defeats in 16 games.
