New officials of the Paralympics Committee of India (PCI) have said that they are glad with the appointment of Rao Inderjit Singh as new president of the committee, adding that they are looking forward to work under his leadership.

Earlier in April, the PCI president Rajesh Tomar was suspended for 'not providing' basic amenities like drinking water and toilets to the players during the national championship in Ghaziabad.

The officials further said the players would not suffer now like they had suffered in the past.

Meanwhile, Karvinder Chaudhary, former head of the organising committee of the National Paralympic Games, and who was accused of keeping Paralympic athletes in a very poor condition, has been elected as the PCI joint secretary.

Reacting to his appointment, another joint secretary Shivaji Kumar said that many PCI officials were against his election, but he was elected democratically by the Paralympic body of Bangalore.

The PCI was derecognised by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) for infighting. It was for the third time that India were suspended for violating rules of governance.
