Parents of children found dead days after they went missing from the hermitage of self proclaimed Godman Asaram Bapu, staged protests and demanded justice from the Gujarat Government on Monday.

Kalyan Singh, one of the protesters, said: "My two children were killed, but the state government had deceived us in the name of filing a complaint against Asaram. Today, we are fasting against this decision of the state government of Gujarat, which is blindly believing Asaram. We would like to urge the government to pay heed to the plight of the people."

Two young boys, who were enrolled at a school that was a part of Asaram Bapu's hermitage, were found dead after they went missing from his hermitage at Motera in 2008.

The children were found in a river near the hermitage three days later.

The police, however, concluded that the children had drowned and arrested seven employees of the Asaram Bapu Trust for criminal negligence.

Born on April 17, 1941, Asaram Bapu preaches the existence one supreme conscious in every human being; be it Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh or anyone else. He is currently in judicial custody on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl at his hermitage in Jodhpur.
