Passage of Mines Bill 'big push' for Indian economy, says Naidu

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday said the passage of the Mines and Minerals Bill and Coal Mines Bill in the Rajya Sabha is a 'big push' for the Indian economy.

"Passage of the mines and minerals bills and coal mines bill have sent a strong message of reforms, revival of economy and a big push for infrastructure, power sector will be highly benefited, states will be benefited and the country will be benefited," Naidu told the media.

Earlier on Friday, the Rajya Sabha passed the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Bill 2015.

The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill was also passed in the Upper House.

According to reports, 117 people voted in favour of the bill while 69 opposed it.
