British golfer Paul Casey has equalised the PGA Tour record for the best score on a back nine after he recorded an eight-under-par 27 in the second round at the Byron Nelson Championship.
Casey shot a one-over 36 on Friday's front nine with three bogeys and an eagle and had six birdies and an eagle on the back nine to finish two shots off the leader, Brendon Todd, with a few players still out on the course.
According to The Guardian, Casey, whose round of seven-under 63 left him six under on 134, had plummeted out of the top 150 from a rank of third in the world due to injuries and the turmoil of a divorce, although he worked his way back towards the top echelon in the past year, which came together on Friday.
The overall nine-hole scoring record is Corey Pavin's eight-under 26 on the front nine in the first round of the US Bank Championship in Milwaukee in 2006, the report added.
