Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan has confirmed that his country's government has given its approval for the cricket team to participate in next month's World Twenty20 in India.

Earlier, Shaharyar had stated Pakistan's participation in the T20 format's pinnacle event was subject to government clearance as there were specific threats against Shahid Afridi's team in India.

As a result, the PCB had given a proposal to the International Cricket Council to host Pakistan's World T20 matches at a neutral venue if the government did not allow the team to travel to India.

Shaharyar, however, said in a statement that he was pleased that the Pakistan government had given its consent for their team to visit India but added that they have requested the ICC to put in special security arrangements for his country's team, the Dawn reported.
