Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has said that he believes that midfielder Yaya Toure is earning his reward this season by working hard while training.

According to Metro.co.uk, Toure's fine start to the new campaign continued when he scored his fifth goal in seven games to help City to a 5-0 Capital One Cup win on Tuesday against Wigan Athletic, which had embarrassed them with a shock victory in last season's FA Cup final.

Stating that Toure is an important player for the team, Pellegrini said that although he is not concerned with the club's form last season, he is confident that this season, the players are playing with trust, and the Ivory League international is one of them.

According to Pellegrini, the club has been having continuous practice sessions, adding that Toure keeps on practicing even after they complete the daily sessions which is evident in his current good form.

Tuesday's game was also notable for the first goals scored by Stevan Jovetic, the 24 million-pound summer signing from Fiorentina, the report added.
