The Pentagon has said that U.S. air strikes that have killed several top Islamic State (IS) leaders in Iraq in recent weeks have limited the terror group's ability to fight Iraqi and Kurdish troops.

Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said that three top IS leaders were killed in recent weeks along with several senior and mid-level leaders. One of the leaders killed in the air strikes was Haji Mutazz, a deputy to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the terror outfit, reported Fox News.

The group has captured large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.
