Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson I K Jadeja on Tuesday said that people of Gujarat have voted for BJP looking at the development of the state. He said this while commenting on the performance of BJP in the by polls in Gujarat.

Jadeja said, "We believe that looking at the development of the state the people have voted for BJP. We were expecting that we will win in all the seats in Gujarat, the result has not come our way in couple of seats, and will analyze the reasons for that."

He said that the usual trend in any election in Gujarat is that the BJP wins 85 to 90 percent of the seats. "The same trend has followed in this by polls also," he added.

He further said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi had vacated two seats, one Lok Sabha seat and one Vidhan Sabha seat, we have won both those seats."

In Gujarat, the BJP has won 6 seats, while the Congress has won 3 seats out of 9 Assembly seats that went to polls on September 13. The BJP candidate Ranjanben Bhatt has won the Vadodara seat by defeating Congress Party candidate Narendra Rawat by a huge margin. The Vadodara seat was vacated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to retain Varanasi seat after Lok Sabha elections in may.
