People in Srinagar upset over lack of Government assistance as J-K battles worst floods

The local residents and tourists in Srinagar on Sunday complained about the inadequate steps taken by the government as they face the wrath of the floods, which has made their life difficult.

"It is very tough. The situation is such that the water levels are rising. The government has not taken enough steps. There is no rescue. It is on our own level that we are taking steps. The entire Srinagar is under water," Mohammad Bilal, a local resident in Srinagar, told ANI on the recent flood situation in Kashmir.

Another tourist, who was supposed to go to Pune, said the situation is becoming from bad to worse.

"There is no facility. The government has not made any arrangement," he added.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today informed that the flood situation was improving in Jammu region but it continues to remain grim in Kashmir. He also appealed to the people not to panic and stay above the water level.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the flood situation in the State at a high-level meeting attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and top officials.
