United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) Chairman Shaukat Ali Kashmiri said on Friday that the people of Kashmir wanted peace and not bullets of cross-firing between Indian and Pakistani troops.

"People of Kashmir want peace. Cross-border firing and infiltration must be brought to an end. We had organised a peaceful protest on Friday against the constant cross-border firing. Still, the Pakistan police fired upon them. This is absolutely outrageous," Kashmiri told ANI.

Expressing concern on the constant ceasefire violation by Pakistan, Kashmiri added, "When Pakistan send its forces and fire a shot to the Indian side to provoke them and the Indian forces retaliate with 10,000 shots, it is causing heavy losses to the Kashmiri people on both sides."

The UKPNP chairman also demanded that an investigation should be conducted as to why the Pakistani forces had fired upon the participants of the peace march, which was conducted in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Friday.

Six people were injured in the firing, which was carried out on the peace march in Poonch, PoK. The march was taken out against the Pakistan-initiated cross-border firings.

Naeem Butt, a Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) activist from Rawalakot in PoK, was injured in the firing and is recovering at an Islamabad hospital.

Also, a journalist from Pakistan's 92 News was wounded in the firing as well.
