Iconic British animated character Peppa Pig, who is loved by millions of children around the world has turned 10.
The first episode of Peppa Pig was broadcast on May 31, 2004 on Channel 5, and is now generating more than 200 million pounds in retail sales in Britain alone, Metro.co.uk reported.
The show was born out of frustration, as its creators, Neville Astley and Mark Baker, along with producer Phil Davies, felt that their earlier animated offering, The Big Knights, had been treated badly by the BBC and was shown in late night slots when no one was watching TV.
