Photographers have field day with fresh snowfall in Kufri

Fresh snowfall in Kufri, Himachal Pradesh,is helping photographers to earn good money, as tourists throng the hill station.

Kufri, which is around 23 kilometres from Shimla, witnessed at least 100 photographers at Mahsu Peak as well as along the national highway, all of them being busy with their cameras.

A beautiful landscape and picturesque Himalayan range in the backdrop is benefiting the photographers here.

A professional photographer, Ramesh, said that this year they have received good business.

"The photographers in Shimla, Kufri and other surrounding destinations work in groups and divide their income. However, due to the recent snowfall the photographers in Shimla are also getting good business this year," said a local photographer Ramesh.

Winter season spells a boom for the tourism and hospitality sectors in this region. Tourists were seen dressing up in traditional attires and sitting on yaks and posing for the shutterbugs.

"Here in Kufri alone, there are 70 photographers who are registered. We have good business throughout the year but during snowfall, the influx of tourists is always more and everyone wants to get clicked in the traditional attire," said another photographer, Sanjeev.

Himachal Pradesh is a well known tourist destination for winter activities such as skiing, skating, sledge rides besides horse rides.

The local colourful heritage of local culture and customs happens to be another additional attraction for the thousands of tourists.

Besides their earnings, these photographers are also promoting the culture of hill state.

On an average during the peak tourist season, photographers in Kufri daily process 200 to 300 pictures.
