England batsman Kevin Pietersen has said that he hoped that he can play Test cricket for another four years beyond the return Ashes series in Australia, despite his lingering calf and knee injuries.

According to Metro.co.uk, Pietersen also insisted that he wants to score 10,000 Test runs and also wants to play Test cricket beyond the 2015 World Cup in Australia.

Stating that he is still fresh in terms of scoring runs, Pietersen said that he would love to play Test cricket for another three to four years, especially in the 2015 World Cup, as he is only 33 years old.

According to Pietersen, he is also looking forward to taking 10,000 Test runs, although he admitted that he needs to stay in form and injury-free given that he has been hampered by them for the last few years.

Expressing his excitement at winning his fourth Ashes series as a player after previous wins in 2005, 2009 and 2010/11, Pietersen also said that his team deserved being 3-0 up and winning this series as they played very tough cricket, adding that the Ashes is the real reason a player plays cricket.

Stating that this Ashes series bodes well for an equally interesting series in Australia, Pietersen however, said that they would have to play some very good cricket as they cannot discount the Australian side, although he hoped that his side's success can be counted on the fact that they have won some very key stages over the last four Tests.
