A plaque in memory of the late Australian batsman Phillip Hughes has been mounted on the balcony of the home dressing room at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) ahead of the fourth and final Test against India.

Australian players would reportedly have a constant reminder of Hughes throughout the match, and it is surely going to be an emotional occasion for all the Australian players, and particularly those who were present when Hughes was fatally struck by a ball during a Sheffield Shield match in November.

However, rather than avoiding the issue the Aussie players seem determined to embrace the positive memories of their late teammate, News.com.au reported.

Australian stand-in captain Steve Smith welcomed the installment of the plaque, saying that he thinks it is a good thing. He said that Hughes was one of them, and he was one of their good mates.

So Smith believes particularly this week it's going to be great to be able to walk past that and see the little fella there and give them a little inspiration as they are going out onto the field.

Smith claimed that it's great that the SCG Trust has been able to do something like that for them.

There are no plans to remove the plaque after the Test is over, meaning cricketers for years to come would be able to acknowledge the much-loved batsman before they walk out to the middle of the ground, the report added.
