Expressing concern over reports of Narsingh Yadav testing positive for a banned steroid, his rival Susheel Kumar's coach Satpal on Sunday said that players of the former's stature should put a stringent check on all these things.
Satpal, Susheel Kumar's coach said, "I am saddened by the news. But it is unfortunate that when all are gearing up for the Olympics this news has come up. At a time when all the hearing was being done, me and Sushil decided not to approach the Supreme Court in connection with the case, as we just wanted a gold for India."
"The entire nation expects medals from us in wrestling. Another thing is that when a player comes at this level, he must put a stringent check on all these things. It is his duty to take care of all these factors," he added.
The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) conducted a random dope test on Narsingh on July 5 at the Sports Authority of India's (SAI) regional centre in Sonepat.
The report of his 'A' sample test came out positive. Later, he was called for his 'B' sample test, which also returned positive.
According to reports, he had returned positive for methandienone -- a banned anabolic steroid.
NADA Director General Navin Agarwal confirmed that Narsingh's 'B' sample also tested positive and he appeared before a NADA disciplinary panel on Saturday.
