Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here today on the first leg of his two-nation trip to Ireland and United States.
Prime Minister Modi was received by Ireland Health Minister Leo Varadkar at Dublin Airport.
This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ireland in 60 years.
In Ireland, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with the Taoiseach of Ireland, Enda Kenny, and will interact with the Indian community before departing.
"On 23rd September 2015, I will visit Ireland. It is after almost 60 years that an Indian Prime Minister will visit Ireland. In Ireland, I will hold talks with Mr. Enda Kenny, the Taoiseach of Ireland. We hope to further develop strong people-to-people and economic ties with Ireland in the years to come. In Ireland I will also interact with the Indian community," the Prime Minister had said in an earlier Facebook post.
The Prime Minister will then depart for New York later this evening (IST) and arrive at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Thursday.
In the US, he will attend the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, before heading to the Silicon Valley in California for key business and investment promotion related interactions.
