The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is certain that his visit to China in May would boost the bond between the two nations.

"The Prime Minister has shown tremendous leadership skills in taking relations with several countries to a higher level. His proposed visit to China will optimize our relation with China and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is certain that his visit will boost the bond between the two nations," said BJP spokesperson G.V.L Narasimha Rao.

Earlier this month, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had expressed high hopes for the visit of Prime Minister Modi this year, saying the two neighbours should strengthen cooperation to facilitate the settlement of the boundary question.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit China in May. This follows Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to India in November.

The two leaders are also expected to discuss matters related to Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank of which India is a founding member.
