Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described his visit to Uzbekistan as memorable and said it will strengthen ties between India and the Central Asian country.
"A memorable visit to Uzbekistan. It will strengthen India-Uzbekistan ties," Prime Minister Modi said on twitter.
"Spoke on people to people connect & cultural ties at interaction with Indologists, Hindi students & Indian community," he added.
The Prime Minister further expressed his gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan for the affection shown to him during his visit.
"My gratitude to the people of Uzbekistan for the affection," he said.
Prime Minister Modi earlier paid his tributes at the National Monument of Independence and Humanism in Tashkent and laid a floral wreath at the bust of Lal Bahadur Shastri before interacting with school children.
Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Tashkent yesterday on the first leg of his eight-day tour to five central Asian countries and Russia, has said that India is looking forward to combating the menace of terrorism along with Uzbekistan.
He also added that India was looking forward to expanding bilateral ties with Uzbekistan in matters related to economic cooperation, advancing stability and promoting regional integration.
