Extending Diwali greetings to President Pranab Mukherjee from Siachen, the world's highest battleground, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called it one of the most unique greetings to be received by the former.
"Wished President Pranab Mukherjee a very Happy Diwali from Siachen! Am sure this would be among the most unique greetings Pranab Da received," tweeted the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Modi visited Siachen today and spent some time with the soldiers on the occasion of Diwali. Extending his warm wishes, Prime Minister Modi conveyed the message to the soldiers that every Indian stands shoulder-to- shoulder with them.
Prime Minister Modi will later today visit Srinagar and celebrate Diwali with the flood-affected people. He is also expected to announce a central package for the flood victims before flying back to Delhi in the evening.
The Prime Minister is likely to meet delegations from various sections of the society at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar.
