Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed his grief over the bus accident in the Udhampur region of Jammu and Kashmir which claimed the lives of around 20 people.
"Disturbing news from J and K. Bus accident in Udhampur has saddened me. My thoughts are with families of the deceased. Prayers with the injured," Prime Minister Modi said in a statement.
"I have asked my ministerial colleague Dr. Jitendra Singh ji to stay in touch with authorities and ensure timely assistance," Prime Minister Modi added.
According to reports, the incident took place when the passenger bus, which was on its way from Latty to Jammu, skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge.
Around 35 people have been injured in the mishap.
The condition of some of the injured was said to be critical enough for them to be transported and admitted to the district hospital in Udhampur and to the GMC Hospital in Jammu.
