Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat, whose birth anniversary coincides with Mahatma Gandhi.
Earlier Prime Minister Modi also visited Rajghat and offered his floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 145th birth anniversary today.
Senior Congress leader Anil Shastri, son of Lal Bahadir Shastri, was also present at Vijay ghat to offer his tributes to the late leader.
Lal Bahadir Shastri was the second Prime Minister of India and a leader of the Indian National Congress party.
He was also one of the loyal followers, first of Gandhi and then of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Lal Bahadur Shastri was the first person to be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna and a memorial "Vijay Ghat" was built for him in New Delhi.
