Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid his tributes to former Prime Minister VP Singh on his birth anniversary.
"I pay my tributes to the former Prime Minister of India, Shri VP Singh on his birth anniversary," Prime Minister Modi said on twitter.
VP Singh was born on June 25, 1931 in Allahabad. He was the eighth Prime Minister of India and remained in office for slightly less than a year from 1989 to 1990.
He is known for accepting the Mandal Commission's report recommending 27 percent reservations for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in government jobs.
He passed away on November 27, 2008 in New Delhi.
