Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement that the newly formed government in Uttar Pradesh will bring record development in the state, the Congress Party on Monday said the former's assertion of development is a ploy.
"Every time when they come to power, they always say development. It has become a ploy. I don't think they have any definite plan for the development of Uttar Pradesh. Any way, it's a new government so we don't want to be pessimistic," Congress leader P.C. Chacko told ANI.
Chacko expressed hope that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath does not repeat the kind of statements he used to issue earlier.
"He is now the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. So, we all hope that he will show maturity and responsibility and not issue provocative statements against some communities. He will understand his responsibility that it is his duty to take everybody together," he added.
The Congress leader also wished the new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister all the success.
Resonating similar sentiments, another Congress leader Om Prakash Mishra said, "Yogi Adityanath is a young person and he has won the elections five times. Definitely the Central Government's agenda is 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said there will be development in Uttar Pradesh. So, naturally we hope Aditynath will develop Uttar Pradesh. He will be an example in India and also abroad."
In a series of tweets, Prime Minister Modi has expressed confidence over the newly formed government in Uttar Pradesh and said it would bring record development in the state.
