Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal regarding the incessant rains that has lashed the state.
Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter and said, "Central Government has been closely and constantly monitoring the situation and that all possible support is being provided to Assam for overcoming the flood situation prevailing in parts of the state.

Yesterday, the second wave of deluge claimed lives of 10 more people. With this, nearly 22.5 lakh people have been affected in 21 districts of the north eastern state.
Assam State Disaster Management Authority said, "With today's deaths, the toll in this year's flood-related incidents has gone up to 99. The situation is likely to worsen as waters of the Brahmaputra and 10 other rivers were flowing above the danger mark at 15 places."
Most of the forest areas in Kaziranga National Park, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and Lawkhua wildlife sanctuary have been submerged under water.
