Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished devout patriot Shyamji Krishna Varma on his birth anniversary.
"On his birth anniversary I salute Shyamji Krishna Varma, the great patriot & inspiration for many nationalists," he tweeted.
"I bow to Shyamji Krishna Varma on his birth anniversary. A devout partiot, Shyamji Krishna Varma's devotion to Bharat Mata knew no boundaries," he added.
Prime Minister Modi also took the opportunity to highlight the contribution of other freedom fighters.
"He ignited the flame of patriotism among many, including Veer Savarkar, Madanlal Dhingra and Lala Hardaya," Prime Minister Modi wrote.
"I salute the great personality who spent his life working for a free India," he added.
Prime Minister Modi had as the then Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2003 travelled to Switzerland to get back the ashes of Shyamji Krishna Varma.
As the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone of Kranti Teerth memorial on October 4, 2009, and dedicated it to the nation on December 13, 2010.
